This article by Ken Satterthwaite, who was an Associate Member of the Fleet Air Arm Association, Watford Branch.

Ken and his wife Sheila recently accompanied us to the NFA Garden Party, and he was selected to be presented in person to HRH Princess Anne, on the basis that he was at Christmas Island during the nuclear tests.

Haig Housing Trust has a nicely adapted 2 bed bungalow in Yeovil BA21 which has become available due to the sad death of our beneficiary. It was bought specially for the beneficiary in 2014, and well adapted by MOD DIO in 2015 (doorways widened, wheelchair friendly pathways and access etc) and is in good condition. The bathroom has an easy access shower and a bath. It would suit a couple with / without a child. Normal Haig criteria applies. If we cannot find a suitable couple we will sell it.

Any applications please to Haig's Housing Options team on housingoptions@haighousng.org.uk, copy please to me, Rory.Ingleby-MacKenzie@haighousing.org.uk

I recently visited the Museum on a trip to Scotland with my wife. Although it is normally only open at weekends, Chris Tuke kindly came out on the Thursday to open up for us. It was a fascinating visit, the bell of HMS Fulmar having pride of place. However, they are short of exhibits and memorabilia.

The Trustees of the Museum are working very hard to build up their collection, so if you have any material/items/photographs they would be very interested in receiving them. They need not necessarily be related to Lossiemouth but just Fleet Air Arm in general. However, photographs should be related to Lossiemouth and if possible should be annotated on the back with details.

I have attached three photographs, one of the Fulmar Bell in pride of place, one of an exhibit (CPO uniform Officer's Cap!), and one of the purpose built museum. If you are ever in the area a visit is highly recommended. But, they really do need more exhibits. Many of us will probably have some bits and pieces which will be suitable and which will more than likely end up in the skip when we cross the bar.

Please contact me if you need more clarification or Chris directly on the contact details below if you have anything to donate.

Thank you for your attention.

Yours Aye
